Javier R. Canon, M.D.

Dr. Canon brings more than 20 years of experience in interventional pain management. His unique background in Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Pain Medicine gives him an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the suffering involved with painful conditions and their related treatments. He uses these skills to perform detailed patient evaluations and formulate comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans.

Dr. Canon is board certified in both Psychiatry and Pain Medicine. He graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Medical School in Bogota, Colombia. He then completed his residency in Psychiatry at University of Missouri in Kansas City, MO. For his clinical excellence, Dr. Canon was chosen to serve as Chief Resident during this time.

He subsequently completed two fellowships. First one in Addiction Psychiatry and the second one, with the Department of Anesthesia in Pain Medicine at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas. Most recently he joined the UT Department of Orthopedic as an Assistant Professor. He has published a chapter related to Pain Management within a specialized book published by his mentor and national expert, Dr. Rammamurthy.

Outside of the Office: Dr. Cañon enjoys traveling, flying, scuba diving, snowboarding, playing tennis. He plays guitar and loves to sing, He participates in church activities and mostly loves to spend time with his family.

COVID-19 Drive Thru Testing

Steps in-order to be tested for COVID-19

Initial criteria for the Covid-19 Testing will require a Telehealth visit. To schedule a Telehealth visit call 281-238-7870

The patient will be screened during the Telehealth visit for criteria that suggests a possible positive Covid-19

Criteria for Covid-19 Testing:

Patients must have symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath) AND have one of the following risk factors:

Older than 65 years old

People who have serious underlying health conditions (heart disease, diabetes, lung disease/asthma, HIV, immunocompromised)

Healthcare workers with suspected exposure

The patient must have proper photo identification in order to proceed with testing.

The patient specimen will be collected while the patient remains in the vehicle. Patient must arrive by car or truck. No patients on bikes will be tested.

COVID-19 Drive-Thru testing hours- 8:00am- 1:00pm. (Numbers of test are limited)
